The Innova proprietary risk management framework is overseen by a team of experienced investment professionals. Our team of experts regularly review and critique the outputs of our quantitative models and provide invaluable input into the portfolio construction framework.

DAN MILES

Managing Director & Co-Chief Investment Officer

Dan co-founded the business in 2010 and currently serves as the Managing Director & Co-Chief Investment Officer of Innova Asset Management, whereby he is responsible for overall portfolio management of Innova’s managed account portfolios. Dan is also a Responsible Manager for Innova Portfolio Management. Dan holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, where he was awarded the university prize for Risk and Portfolio Construction. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) with Merit and a Bachelor of Science, both from the University of NSW.

DINYAR IRANI

Chairman & Co-Chief Investment Officer

Dinyar co-founded the business in 2010 and currently serves as Chairman & Co-Chief Investment Officer of Innova Asset Management, whereby Dinyar specialises in domestic and international equities, domestic property and contributes to Innova’s house views of the economy and markets. Dinyar is also a Responsible Manager for Innova Portfolio Management. Dinyar has over twenty years of industry experience, including Head of Investment Research at RI Advice Group/RetireInvest as well as Genesys Wealth Advisers/Associated Planners. His model portfolios were highly regarded by advice professionals and achieved long term outperformance above both weighted market index and industry peers.

SHANE WANG

Head of Quantitative Research

Shane joined Innova in 2012 and is the Head of Quantitative Research, overseeing the design and refinement of Innova’s quantitative modelling processes based on the company’s unique approach to managing investment risk. Shane also contributes to all research-related activity, including the research of alternative risk management & investment strategies. Shane holds a Master’s degree in Risk Management (Quantitative Risk) from the University of NSW, and also holds a Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of Auckland.

SAM CHAPMAN

Investment Governance Analyst

Sam joined Innova in 2018, and specialises in investment governance, ensuring the consistency of Innova’s portfolios across our various products and is responsible for determining the feasibility of any proposed investment solutions. He also provides qualitative and quantitative support to the investment team. Sam holds a Master of Applied finance from the University of Newcastle, a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle as well as a Bachelor of Business from the University of Newcastle.

RAFIO KHAN

Investment Analyst

Rafio joined Innova in 2023 as an investment analyst. He has a decade’s worth of experience in the financial services industry. During that time he specialised in conducting in-depth research on a wide range of fund managers and has spent significant time working on model portfolios. Rafio has strong quantitative and qualitative skils and an understanding of different asset classes. Rafio holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University. 

JOHN BILSEL

Investment Analyst

John joined Innova in 2022 as an Investment Analyst and is primarily responsible for investment research and quantitative analysis, as well as operational activity including trading. He also is heavily involved in Innova’s ESG portfolios and sustainable investing research. John holds a Bachelor of Business (major in finance), and a Bachelor of Business (Honours) focused on ESG investing and asset pricing from the University of Technology, Sydney.

SOPHIE TEMPERTON

Director & General Manager

Sophie joined Innova in 2012 and is responsible for overseeing all Innova operations and managing key business projects. As part of the Innova management committee and board of directors, she is also responsible for ensuring the implementation of business plans and corporate strategy. Sophie is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds both a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance & Economics) as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Finance from the University of Otago.

LAURENCE GAMBOA

Head of Distribution 
Laurence joined Innova in 2023 as Head of Distribution, and is responsible for the promotion of Innova’s portfolios through a variety of channels, including but not limited to financial advisers and wealth managers as well as platforms. Laurence previously served as the State Business Development Manager for New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory at Triology Fund, and has held various Business Development roles within AIA Australia and BT Financial Group. He also has experience in financial services transformation roles in Australia and the UK. 

THE INNOVA INVESTMENT COMMITTEE

Innova has appointed two independent investment committee members to provide regular oversight and governance across the portfolio construction framework, including an independent chairperson. In addition, there are two internal members from the Innova team who also make up the investment committee – Dan Miles & Dinyar Irani

THE INNOVA COMPLIANCE COMMITTEE

Innova has appointed one external compliance committee member, with three internal members that make up the compliance committee – Dan Miles, Dinyar Irani and Sophie Temperton. The compliance committee meets on a quarterly basis to ensure we are meeting all requirements and obligations under our AFSL.
